Alcohol/ PTSD Study
Researchers at UCLA is conducting a research study that looks at the effectiveness of a sleep medication in improving sleep as well as its effects on PTSD symptoms and alcohol use
Participants will receive at NO COST:
– Information about their health
– Physical Exam
– Bloodwork and EKG
– FDA-approved sleep medication (suvorexant)
– Sleep monitoring device for duration of the study
You may qualify to participate if you:
– Experience problems with sleep
– Have PTSD or trauma-related symptoms
– Currently drink alcohol
– Are able to attend in-person and virtual study visits for 3 weeks
– Are able to wear a watch to track sleep
– Are able to take the study medication (suvorexant)
You will be compensated for study participation

Smoking Treatment fMRI Study
Do you smoke cigarettes?
The Addictions Research Laboratory in the UCLA Psychology Department is looking for individuals age 18 to 65 who smoke cigarettes daily to participate in a study examining an experimental compound, called cytisinicline. We aim to understand its impact on smoking behavior and brain function.
Eligible participants will:
1) Complete a 2-to 3-week outpatient period, which includes taking cytisinicline or placebo daily, and
2) complete 4 study visits, which include questionnaires, a physical exam, a blood draw, and two MRI scans of your brain.
Participation in this study will occur over 4 weeks, and the 4 study visits will take a total of 7.5 hours. Participants will be compensated up to $230 for their time.

Motivation for Alcohol Study
Do you drink alcohol?
The Addictions Research Laboratory in the UCLA Psychology Department is looking for individuals age 21 to 65 who drink alcohol regularly (but are not currently receiving treatment or interested in receiving treatment) to participate in a study investigating motivation for alcohol. Eligible participants will complete three study visits involving questionnaires, interviews and an IV alcohol infusion.
Participants will be compensated up to $220 for their time.

Outpatient Treatment for Alcohol Use
Looking for Treatment for Alcohol Problems?
The UCLA Psychology Clinic is offering a new 12-week low-cost outpatient treatment program combining research with cognitive behavioral therapy. Participation involves weekly visits to the UCLA Psychology Clinic to attend therapy sessions and complete brief questionnaires and interviews. There will be a 2-hour intake session followed by 1-hour weekly sessions, each at $20/visit (copay).
